The Promised Land Zoo was originally formed by Jeff and Diane Sanders in Chicago that started only as their hobby of raising exotic animals. It was in the early 90’s that the Sanders started raising endangered animals for other zoos. Because they owned a farm with wide open spaces they were able to produce more and more animals for other zoos. When people learned about their raising of animals, many people become interested to visit the farm. So they opened up a section of the park for tours and everything happened from there. Over a few years, visitors turned in hundreds and into thousands annually and eventually the Sanders opened the Promised Land Zoo in 1999.
With the increasing popularity of Promised Land Zoo, they began rescuing animals that reached over 60 rescued exotic animals aside from over 500 zoo residents. By the year 2012, the Sanders decided to open a zoo in another place. After finding the perfect place, they settled in Branson, Missouri. So after opening the Promised Land Zoo in spring 2013, it became one of the most visited Branson attractions in the Ozarks. The Sanders family focused on raring baby animals where visitors can watch, get up close, and interact.
