Let’s Pick Some Berries!

Summer season is a wonderful time to bring the whole family to Persimmon Hill Farm and let the kids experience the farm life by picking some berries. Located at 367 Persimmon Hill Lane in Lampe, Missouri, Persimmon Hill Farm provides visitors great outdoor fun through some of the most beautiful countryside in the Ozarks. This unique farm life experience combines outdoor adventure with culinary indulgence. Persimmon Hill Farm is near the main highway between Branson, Missouri and Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

As acres of blueberries begin to ripen in June, Persimmon Hill Farm starts to offer fresh blueberries for self-guided family-style picking. At the farm kitchen right next to the farm, don’t miss to taste the huge Thunder Muffins loaded with blueberries, blueberry crunch-top cobbler with ice cream, and even frozen Blueberry Sleet drinks.

Before picking berry at the farm, it would be great to enjoy breakfast with coffee and muffins hot from the oven on the porch overlooking the blueberry field. After spending a wonderful blueberry picking experience in the farm, don’t forget to try the delicious taste of the farm’s pulled pork sandwiches with their award-winning Blueberry BBQ Sauce. If you love the “blues’’, you may want to come back to the farm for the blackberries and gooseberries. Blueberries and gooseberries ripen around first week of June but varies during the season depending upon the weather while blackberries ripen from late June to mid-July.

Since the opening of Persimmon Hill Farm in 1983, the farm not only hosted berry lovers, but have built gourmet food products. They started with blueberry, raspberry and blackberry jams so full of berries and rich of berry flavor that suddenly became popular. When they added Shiitake mushrooms to the foods grown on the farm, they hired a chef to develop a signature product, a Shiitake Mushroom Sauce with a flavorful sauce of chicken, beef or pasta.  Then came spicier Raspberry Summer Sauce with rich apple butter, sweet Blackberry Glaze for grilling, and Croutakie mushroom toppings.

Persimmon Hill Farm also offers mail order packages of sauces, jams, dried mushrooms, and Blueberry Thunder Muffins (fresh-baked and shipped in a muffin tin) and more in attractive gift crates. You can also order a unique and productive gift of Shiitake Mushroom log kit, inoculated with the flavorful Shiitake Mushrooms that are ready to grow. If you want to make yourself the farm’s fresh-baked specialties at home, you can do so with the guide from The Persimmon Hill Farm Cookbook. The cookbook has complete recipes that range from the farm’s signature Blueberry Thunder Muffins and Raspberry Ice Cream Pie to Crunch-top Cobblers, Berry Cheesecake Tarts and Jam-filled Scones.

This summer season, it is great to experience a unique outdoor fun activity with the whole family at the Persimmon Hill Farm in Lampe, Missouri  and  enjoy a farm life experience by picking berries.
