Autumn Fishing 101

Autumn FishingAutumn fishing in Branson is the best time to fish at any of the Tri-lakes area as the place offers diverse fishing activity where you easily have the chance to catch world-class rainbow and brown trout as well as bass, crappie and blue gill. Fishing in Lake Taneycomo gives every angler a consistent good year round of bass and trout fishing. Autumn season in Branson is a transition time for bass on Table Rock Lake while the cool waters on Bull Shoals Lake revitalizes fishing with the opportunity to find all three species of black bass.

One of the best kept secrets in the Tri-lakes area is the bass fishing on Lake Taneycomo. Though the lake is known as one of the nation’s best rainbow trout fisheries, these big brown species draw fly fishers to Branson during autumn season. Brown trout comes out upstream to spawn in the shallow water near the dam. You’ll see this big fish in shallow water only for one month each year, but it’s still challenging for anglers to catch, though. White River in Arkansas produces more brown trout, but Lake Taneycomo holds some giants of its own, where catching an 18-pounder is not rare.

The colder water of Lake Taneycomo keeps bass more active throughout the year. With this in mind, the bass in the lake will chase reaction baits like spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and crankbaits for a greater portion during the season. During autumn season, big bass seem to show up on the lake that weigh over five pounds being caught with regularity and a few over eight pounds that are becoming more prevalent. Big fish tend to be caught during the cooler months on the deeper water close to ledge banks.

If you’re hesitant to use a magnifying glass to tie a bait onto your line, or if you just can’t stand the cold water, try fishing at Table Rock Lake which offers excellent fishing for catfish, bluegill and, of course, three species of black bass – largemouth, smallmouth and spotted. During the months of October and November, bass  can easily be spotted in shallower water and creek arms of the lake. The river banks tend to be more productive during this time period. The spinnerbaits and crankbaits can be very effective as the fish move into the river and creek arms.

The cool waters in Bull Shoals Lake during autumn season revitalize fishing in the area. Here you can find all three species of black bass in large rock points and channel swing banks on the main lake and in major creek arms. Tube baits and right wiggling crankbaits are all important baits that are productive to use on the lake. Walleye can also be caught in the same location as bass in autumn. Suspending jerk baits  like Lucky Craft pointers or Smithwick Rogues are key baits in this lake.

So, if you want to experience autumn fishing in Branson, you need learn some tips on how to catch more fish at any of the Tri-lakes area.
