Branson Remembers Vietnam Veterans
Branson hosts the largest Veterans celebration in the nation from November 5 through Veteran’s Day, November 11. During the Veterans’ week in Branson, thousands of visitors will gather in Branson to celebrate and remember the Vietnam veterans who sacrificed their lives in serving our country. People of Branson roll out the red carpet for our nation’s heroes during this annual Veterans’ week in Branson. During this event, veterans and their families are invited to special shows in their honor. They can avail discounts for tickets, meals, and more. Reunions will be held to allow veterans to reconnect with lost friends and there are special events for all our US military members – both past and active duty.
The celebration of Veteran’s Week in Branson will start off with the Opening Ceremony show performed by vets for vets. Named “Vets for Vets Celebration Show,” this fourth annual Branson’s Veterans Homecoming show kicks off with Barbara Fairchild joined by various entertainers who are veterans. The show is scheduled on November 5 at 2 pm at the Baldknobbers Theater. Events to follow on November 6 include POW/MIA Service of Remembrance, Veterans Grove Tree Dedication, and Veterans Spouse Luncheon; and events on November 7 include 4th Infantry Division Reunion, Women Veterans Mini Reunion, Memorial Service for Lost Submarine/Tolling of the Bells, and Veterans Sporting Clays Shoot.
November 8 events include Persian Gulf War Veterans Mini Reunion, 12th Annual Tribute to Women Veterans & Rose Petal Ceremony, and Vietnam Veterans Mini Reunion; November 9 events include The 19th Annual Military Gala & Banquet, Korean War Mini Reunion, and Flag Retirement Ceremony; November 10 events include Wal-Mart Tribute to Veterans, 15th Anniversary Celebration of the Veterans Memorial Museum; and the events on November 11 include Branson Veterans Day Parade, Morning Flag Raising/Wreath Laying Ceremony, The All Hands on Deck! Show, Free Golden Corral Dinner for Veterans, and Veterans week Closing Ceremony.
Many of the most exciting activities that you can enjoy during this annual event include the opening to the public and display of the Vietnam Veterans memorial wall for viewing at the Welk Resort in Branson during the 2017 Veterans Homecoming Celebration. You will see the official half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, the most visited memorial in Washington, D.C. which spans nearly 240 feet in length and lists more than 58,000 names of fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Vietnam war. The Formal Opening Ceremony will be at Table Rock Dam Area on November 6, 2017 at 10 am. This veteran’s activity is organized by the Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 913.
After the sponsorship for 17 years of the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Wall, The Welk Resort Branson purchased the memorial, insuring that it will be displayed for many years to come. "We are always so honored to be able to present this beautiful memorial to our guests and friends in the community," as the General Manager of Welk Resort Branson, Susan Smith has said. "Seeing the names of those who gave everything in the service of their country is an emotional experience, and one that we are proud to present. We invite the community, and of course our veterans to come and experience The Wall."
This Vietnam Veterans memorial wall replica in Branson is available for public viewing from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on November 5 to 11. There will be special locator book which can help assist visitors in finding specific names. Special musical performances will be featured at the opening ceremony for the Wall that will be held at the Welk Resort on Thursday, November 6, at 10:00 am. A POW/MIA Service of Tribute and Remembrance will also be held at The Wall at 8:00 am on Tuesday, November 7.
The Vietnam Era Reunion is another important veteran’s activity in Branson sponsored by Gatherings Plus and Clay Cooper Theatre which will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 at Clay Cooper Theatre. During this Vietnam Era Veterans Reunion, attendees can purchase tickets to the Red, Hot…& Blue. Tickets to the 10:00 am Hot Rods and High Heels Show will be $15 each. By buying ticket in advance, you will have a reserved seat, free lunch and the afternoon show. There’s no guaranteed seat for lunch and afternoon show if tickets were not purchased in advance. Every visitor will enjoy this 10th annual gathering of veterans, families, and friends.
Medic, Nurses & Combat Vets Mini Reunion to be held at Westgate Resort Grand Pavilion is another great event that visitors can enjoy during Veteran’s Week in Branson. To be held on November 6, 2017, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, this Veterans Mini Reunion is joined by medics, nurses, and combat vet friends. This great event offers a great time of fellowship, sharing of stories, hugs, thank yous, and nice acquaintances. This event will have a guest speaker, plus snacks, and other little surprises.
Participating with Branson’s Veterans Homecoming is the perfect way to pay tribute to the many men and women who’ve sacrificed their lives for the love of our country. The entire week is dedicated to our nation’s veterans by showing thanks and respect to them through a variety of activities. Banquets, family gatherings and services of all sorts cover the week, and provide a great time of celebrating Veteran’s Week in Branson. During the week, Branson will host Veterans Day Parade which features all sorts of marching bands, dignified veterans, military vehicles and more as it makes way through the streets of Branson. One of the most important events during Veteran’s Week in Branson is the Veteran’s Day Parade, the most anticipated event each year in Branson. The parade is a long standing tradition which is a part of the way Branson honors Veterans, active duty military personnel and their families. This Veteran’s Day Parade in Branson is held at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month. This 82nd annual parade marches through downtown Branson. This is a time to truly say “thank you” and honor those who have served and to those who are currently serving to protect our freedoms. As you go through the winding streets of downtown Branson, you will see the marching bands, floats, and best of all, thousands of veterans who come to spend Veteran’s week in Branson.
Along with the many special events planned for Branson during Veteran’s celebration and recognition, many of Branson shows also take the time to pay tribute to those who’ve helped keep us safe over the years. Some shows offer free tickets to veterans or shifting their shows towards the topics of our veterans, as if every visitor in Branson area is to make this veteran’s celebration in Branson a truly memorable time for both our veterans and those who come to support them.
