Make Hiking Fun for Kids

hiking with kidsHiking with kids through the trails can be fun especially if you get your kids into a color hunting game while spending a relaxing getaway on the trails in Branson. The color hunting game that you can organize with your kids on the trails in the Ozarks can be an exciting game as strolling or walking on the trails provide great fun for kids. The color game can be easy as it gets for toddlers. You can use grocery bag, brown paper bag, or a gift bag. Write a color on the front with a colored market such as green, orange and red. You can explain to toddlers that they will be going on a treasure hunt to find as many things as they can that are the same color written on the bag.

Before planning hiking with kids on the trails of the Ozarks, you may need some things that are important for infant or toddler such as baby carrier; bottled water for each person unless it’s a short activity; sunscreen to put on to protect from sunlight; bug spray just in case the area is infested with mosquitoes; a hat to also protect from sunlight; a camera or smartphone to capture your memorable moments; and of course you should not forget snacks, whether your hike will be long or not. Don’t forget to bring also the best hiking boots and get ready to explore the Branson area’s fantastic trails.

As Branson has about 200 miles of publicly accessible trails, the area also has ample options for outdoor fun. Whether you want to enjoy a simple day hike, feeling the breeze while biking or enjoying a leisurely horseback ride adventure, the fun activity in Branson is endless. Before you get started on any outdoor activity along the trails in Branson, be sure you’re dressed appropriately, have the proper gear and ensure you’ve got plenty of water – it’s advantageous for everyone to take more water than you think you’ll need.

Located west of Branson, the Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area is a popular outdoor venue where you and your kids can have a great time to spend the day for color hunting game and some walking and hiking. This area is great for picnic, camping, and hiking. It has some terrific trails that include difficult 3.4-mile Homesteader’s Trail. But it also has a half-mile Streamside Trail which is rated moderate by the Missouri Department of Conservation.

The Dogwood Canyon Nature Park in Lampe, about a 40-minute drive from downtown Branson, is another great place to spend a nice hiking adventure.  The park has everything for every outdoor enthusiast that include fascinating hiking, walking, and mountain biking. Overall, Dogwood Canyon has an area of 10,000 acres, so there’s endless opportunity for you to roam and enjoy the outdoors.
