The Paddlewheel restaurant in Branson is a fascinating night spot where you can share your talent in a weekly event called “Open Mic Night.”

The evening show is designed by hosts Sam Clanton and Todd Plympton to be a creative outlet for area singers, songwriters, musicians, and performers. After a successful run at the Black Horse Pub in Hollister, the hosts opened the Paddlewheel Pub in Branson from 7 to 11 p.m. Participants to the weekly event are encouraged to bring an instrument and a smile. The hosts of the event, Sam Clanton and Todd Plympton are long-time partners in many musical projects, bands and open mics in the Branson area, including their recent hosting of the open mic at the Black Horse Pub in Hollister. A singer-songwriter, Sam Clanton also plays guitar, mandolin, and harmonica in several bands in the Ozarks, including Jam McClanton, Whiskey Brothers, Salmon Alley, and The Scapegoats. Sam is passionate about music and likes to play jazz, bluegrass, and indie rock in particular. He is also a radio announcer and news writer for MY100.1, 106.3 KZRK and 102.9 The Z.

Todd Plympton, Sam’s co-host at the Paddlewheel plays upright and electric bass and is known to pick a banjo occasionally. With his steeped background in the blues, Todd has also performed with many notable artists over the years, including touring with Jimmy Thackery & The Drivers, and he has even backed up blues legend Buddy Guy. Todd also plays in several area bands such as Eire & Brimstone, Ripple Effect, Ambrielle Trio and Blowcephus.
