Tuesday is Branson Farmers Market Day!
Last April 25, Branson Farmers Market have opened its doors for the season at the south end parking lot of the Branson Landing. Branson Farmers Market Day will continue to open every Tuesday from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm until the end of October. The market features more than 55 vendors selling fruits and vegetables, locally raised meats and eggs, pizza crusts, goat cheese, honey, salsa, breads and desserts, and even craft products.
According to Market Executive Director Lane McConnell, all vendor businesses and farm products at the market are inspected by the Branson Farmers Market. McConnell has said that “The market provides vendors from a 150-mile radius of Branson, Mo., the opportunity to bring the best from the country to the city. Our market inspects farms and business at our market to ensure farmers are growing, raising and making the product using proper food safety measures.” In addition to this, consumers have the ability to “Put a Face to Their Food” each week with a visit to the market. This will allow them to have easy access to purchase local foods at Farmers Market of the Ozarks (FMO), through the market’s wireless system, which accepts SNAP (food stamps), debit and credit cards.
Market buyers can use these forms of payment by going to the Market Hub and the market management will swipe your card and provide tokens to spend with market vendors, just like cash. The partnership between Branson Farmers Market and the FMO along with their expertise in marketing can help improve the financial success of the local farmers across the region. That way will help provide the best unique, locally grown products to the community, as well as to guests visiting Branson.
A grant through Wholesome Wave was awarded to Branson Farmers Market to provide a Double Up Food Stamp Program, which doubles the amount spent on fruits and vegetables at the market for food stamp participants. Food stamp participants can visit the Market Hub for more information about this program. Vendor and community booths are available at the market and an application for membership to the market can be picked up at the Branson Landing Management Office, by contacting Lane McConnell via email at Lane@loveyourfarmer.com or by calling 417-7668711 or you visit LoveYourFarmer.com and apply online.
Branson Farmers Market was made possible with the coordination from the Farmers Market of the Ozarks (FMO), a non-profit organization that offers consumers a full-range of locally grown farm products. These farm products include vegetables, fruits, pasta, meat, jams, jellies, salsa, cheese, eggs, yogurt, baked goods, honey, an assortment of concessions, and even artisan products. Farmers Market of the Ozarks operates a vibrant farmers market of which their contribution have helped the success of local food growers and producers, strengthens the local food economy and served as a community gathering place for the Ozarks region.
Branson Farmers Market is a place to go if you want to buy fresh farm products, arts and many more craft items every Tuesday until the end of October.
