In the early part of Loretta’s career in music, she began singing in a band named The Trailblazers, alongside her brother. Later on, she entered a televised talent contest, where she was discovered by one of the founders of Zero Records. Loretta got has first break in music after she signed a formal contract with Zero Records. Following her signing, she was asked to record four of her own songs that included “I’m A Honky Tonk Girl,” “Whispering Sea,” “New Rainbow,” and “Heartache Meet Mister Blues.” The release of her first two songs “I’m A Honky Tonk Girl” And “Whispering Sea” gave her an immediate success.
In 1960, Loretta moved on to improve her music career and signed on with music label Decca Records. Her very first song “Success” was released in 1962. That single went straight to the top ten of music charts and this feat was repeated many times during her exemplary music career. Some of her top ten songs during the sixties include “Before I’m Over You,” “Wine, Women and Song,” “Happy Birthday,” and “Blue Kentucky Girl,” to mention a few. Loretta has also written a song “Dear Uncle Sam,” in 1966 and made it to top ten of music charts.
